Visit at King’s College, London, for Research on Quantum Computing

In July 2025, I had the pleasure of spending a week at King’s College London, deepening an already exciting collaboration between my team at ICAR-CNR and the research group led by Prof. Mousavi at the Department of Informatics.

The focus of our joint work is on hybrid quantum/classical algorithms, a promising approach that mixes the power of quantum computing with classical optimization to solve complex problems in machine learning, resource allocation, energy management, and more. King's College, with its expertise in quantum software testing and debugging, is the perfect partner for pushing this frontier forward.

Throughout the week, we shared recent research results, discussed future directions, and also explored opportunities for European project proposals. Fingers crossed!

We also dedicated time to organizing the 1st International Workshop on Quantum Computing for Distributed Systems (QuDiS 2025), which will take place this October in Hakodate, Japan. Planning a scientific event across continents was quite challenging, but also a lot of fun and a great chance to bring our communities together. You can check out more about the workshop here: qudis.icar.cnr.it

A Few Visual Highlights:

  • And yes, I couldn’t resist grabbing a photo with the iconic London Eye in the background!

It was a short but intense visit, full of great science, inspiring conversations, and a few strolls along the Thames. Many thanks to the wonderful colleagues at King's College for the warm hospitality and stimulating discussions. I’m looking forward to the next steps in our research… and to seeing you all again soon, maybe in Italy or Japan!

Stay curious,
